You will work alongside a senior safety engineer and support a Lead Systems Safety Engineer who heads a multi-organizational team, utilize your analytical skills to coordinate and support development in a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) environment, as well as capitalize on state-of-the-art tools to advance the safety assessment of weapon system design and development.
BCI is seeking to fill one (1) full-time senior systems safety engineer position with an energetic, self-starter who possesses some experience in DoD System Safety Programs and/or DoD weapons program and will become part of the growing BCI Safety Engineering group.
This group provides specific, tailored, System of Systems, Warfare System, Combat System, and Element level System Safety Engineering support to several Coast Guard, Naval Sea Systems Command, Joint, and Naval Air Systems engineering, program acquisition and Fleet support activities.
The successful candidate must be able to articulate complex technical issues in a clear, concise, understandable manner in verbal and written formats, work productively independently and in team environments, meet deadlines, and perform multiple tasks in parallel.

This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering, scientific, business or technical discipline OR military operational experience at the E6 level or higher.
In addition, 8
years of general operational experience in systems engineering for DoD weapon systems programs, OR 8
years' combination US Navy, civil service, or industry experience in systems safety related to the description of duties, is required.
Five (5) years of qualified experience in DoD systems engineering processes in performing tasks focused on the development of system safety analysis by identifying, documenting, and tracking resolutions of safety anomalies; demonstrated experience in coordinating, developing, and executing comprehensive technical data packages, Safety Assessment Reports, hazard analyses, probability and severity assessments, design and architecture analysis and the generation of system safety reports / documentation.
The applicant must have a proven record showing the ability to supervise people and resources to complete different activities effectively.
Prior service on a Navy Operational staff in a combat systems or operations-related billet is required.
Previous experience as an Action Officer on a numbered Fleet or Type Commander staff is also acceptable.
This position requires some experience in an engineering, scientific, business or technical discipline.
Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Project and PowerPoint.
Description of Duties:
A shared, full time support role to the Lead Principal For Safety (PFS) that oversees and manages multiple activities for a large collaborative group developing a Joint Service advanced weapon system.
The position is shared with a senior safety engineer that combined, accomplishes technical, managerial and administrative tasks.
This position requires excellent oral and written communication skills as well as public speaking, problem solving and analytical skills, multi-tasking, organization, leadership, and time management in support of the following ongoing activities:

Travel Requirement:
CONUS travel may be required up to 5-10% as part of assigned tasking.
