Systems Administrator (UNIX)

Job Description McKean Defense is an employee owned Naval Life Cycle Management, Engineering, Enterprise Transformation and Program Management business headquartered in Philadelphia, PA. McKean Defense is looking for a Senior Linux Administrator who will be responsible for system administration and customer support of servers and workstations in a Research, Development, and Testing, and Engineering (RDT&E) environment.  McKean Defense is also looking for a Linux Administrator in Dahlgren, VA who is responsible to support system administration and customer support of servers.   Required Skills  The Senior Linux Administrator must demonstrate competency in: Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administration and will be expected to provide technical problem solving and in-depth consulting for problems involving system operations Automated installation methods and system imaging (e.g. Kickstart/Anaconda) Usage of cryptographic log on methods (e.g. PKI) DISA STIG implementation and working within Configuration-Managed Environments. Working as part of a team responsible for administration and management of servers, end-user workstations in both unclassified and classified network environments. Analysis, design, and implementation of modifications to the system software in order to improve system performance by correcting errors Participation in planning new hardware acquisitions, interacting with vendors, educating customers, and communicating and collaborating with other projects within the organization Working closely with engineers to help them use workstations and servers to solve their computationally intensive problems Supporting individual user workstations and associated software support Support for application installation, licenses management, software tracking/distribution and backup/recovery of system configurations and user data files. Understand and use essential tools for handling files, directories, command-line environments, and documentation Operate running systems, including booting into different run levels, identifying processes, starting and stopping virtual machines, and controlling services Configure local storage using partitions and logical volumes Create and configure file systems and file system attributes, such as permissions, encryption, access control lists, and network file systems Deploy, configure, and maintain systems, including software installation, update, and core services Manage users and groups, including use of a centralized directory for authentication Manage security, including basic firewall and SELinux configuration Configuring static routes, packet filtering, and network address translation Setting kernel runtime parameters Producing and delivering reports on system utilization Using shell scripting to automate system maintenance tasks Configuring system logging, including remote logging Configuring a system to provide networking services, including HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, SMTP, SSH and NTP  The Linux Administrator must demonstrate competency in:  Linux system administration and technical problem solving and in-depth consulting for system operations.  Working as part of a team responsible for administration and management of servers, end-user workstations, and potentially clustered systems operating in both unclassified and classified network environments.  Analysis, design, and implementation of modifications to the system software in order to improve system performance, correct errors, or fulfill specific needs.  Planning new hardware acquisitions, developing operating policy, interacting with vendors, educating customers, and communicating and collaborating with other projects within the organization.  Working closely with scientists and engineers to help them use workstations and servers to solve their computationally intensive problems.  Supporting individual user workstations and associated software.  Supporting application installation, licenses management, software tracking/distribution and backup/recovery of system configurations and user data files. Assisting users in applying for accounts, and approving user access.   Required Experience Senior Linux Administrator Requirements Bachelor's Degree and/or comparable job experience in related field; Demonstrated experience in system administration of Linux-based servers and Linux-based workstations Well-developed Linux system management skills Must be able to work in an environment with rapidly changing job priorities Must meet DoD 8570 Cyber Security Workforce (CSWF) criteria of Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level III certification within 4 months of hire Specific experience with the following operating systems and services is required: Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7.x) Must have US Citizenship and an active security clearance at the Top Secret level.  Senior Linux Administrator Desired Skills: Knowledge of corporate services including: DNS, SMTP, RHEV, Splunk, Apache Experience with Department of Defense security guidelines and policies (DISA STIGS) Demonstrated experience managing the installation and maintenance of IT infrastructure Hardware experience with Dell systems Remedy ITSM ticket Management experience Linux Administrator Requirements Bachelor's Degree and/or comparable job experience in related field; minimum of 3 years' demonstrated experience in system administration of Linux-based servers and Linux-based workstations. Well-developed Linux system management skills are required. Experience with hardware experience with HP and Dell systems. Must meet DoD 8570 Information Assurance Workforce (IAWF) criteria or Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification at time of hire Security+ Certification.  Must have demonstrated experience working in an environment with rapidly changing job priorities. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
